2023 HOME & GARDEN TOUR
A LOVELY DAY AND A FABULOUS TOUR

We brought the florals, you brought your friends, and we all celebrated the beautiful spring weather together! It was a perfectly pleasant day in the Sandhills, and we enjoyed being able to spend it with you all, the familiar faces and our newest friends. The success of this year's tour benefits our sponsored project for Weymouth in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills. We remain humbled by your support, year over year, that enables the SPGC mission in service to our shared community. Thank you!

We'd love to know what you think.

Our 75th Year of the Home & Garden Tour was a Blooming Success!

The Southern Pines Garden Club hosted its annual Home & Garden Tour on April 15th, 2023, and the proceeds are to go toward the restoration of pastureland surrounding the recently renovated barn and stable area at the 100-year-old Weymouth Center. This is not simply a beautification project, it’s also a landscaping necessity to complete the facility’s readiness to house a youth riding program in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills.

This past year’s tour was noteworthy for its collection of approachable “idea” houses and home gardens bound to inspire. From the dramatic color schemes of a remodeled kitchen to a recently completed two-level covered terrace, from the curated plantings of a patio in miniature to a one-acre garden of exotic shrubs and perennials, the tour was sure to prompt guests' own home and garden projects with its glimpse into 2023’s selection of houses.

Bringing the Horses Back to Weymouth

Proceeds from the 2023 tour were to fund the restoration of the pasture and landscape surrounding the recently renovated barn and stable area at Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities to facilitate the opening of a youth afterschool riding program with the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills called Weymouth Equestrians.

For 75 years the Southern Pines Garden Club’s annual tour dollars have closed the loop to make good things happen, and to return the fields and paddock areas back to the condition needed to begin Weymouth Equestrians, a six-week curriculum teaching basic horsemanship to underserved children, is just the latest example of our garden club’s community initiatives.

You can read more about this worthy project in "A Legacy of Horsemanship" by Elizabeth N. Sugg found in the March/April 2023 edition of Pinehurst Living Magazine. [PDF copy]

Getting Started

In 2023, guests chose to begin their visits at any home or garden on the tour. Wherever they decided to begin their day, guests were able to check in, exchanging their ticket for an official Tour Passport. The Passport granted access to all of our tour stops and served as their guide along the way. On tour day, tickets are available at all tour stops and online.

We provide a general overview map in the Passport, but we recommend using an online mapping system to plan the route between stops in the order that is most convenient for our guests. Individual addresses for featured homes and gardens will be shared closer to the time of the next tour

Directional signs will be placed along the route and parking directors at each home assist guests. Drop off areas and limited parking is available for those needing improved accessibility; we ask that tour-goers speak to the parking attendant on site. We also encourage guests to use carpooling, and in 2023, parking for groups and carpools was available at the Campbell House and the Weymouth Center.

1922 BOYD HOUSE

WEYMOUTH CENTER FOR THE ARTS & HUMANITIES
555 East Connecticut Avenue, Southern Pines

As part of our 2023 Tour, we were proud to feature the beautiful 1922 Boyd House of the Weymouth Center, celebrating 100 years. Guests were able to visit the historic interior and lovely grounds & gardens. We were especially pleased to welcome tour-goers to the newly renovated stables. Proceeds from the 2023 tour sponsored the landscaping and grounds renovation of the stables, with the long term goal to bring the horses back to Weymouth. Our project helped to make possible the wonderful new Weymouth Equestrians program - an afterschool program in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills.
